It also makes me consider how we can think about ways we can go beyond the expenditures and think about our overall risk exposure. I recently came across Kraus-Anderson Insurance and the idea of total cost of risk, which really stood out to me for those in businesses which have a wide range of exposures they need to be aware of.
For a golf course, property damage and liability, equipment theft, weather damage, and interruptions to operations could all have expensive consequences. Thinking ahead and being well prepared with knowledge about these issues could help course owners and managers make better choices on ways to protect their investment.
