Driver let me down today on several occasions. Still need to figure out a consistent set up. 1.25 on the back nine started to show promise. Rescue was also a disaster today. I've tried it to pick the ball out of the sand, and some side hill lies. Need to be careful on its use, especially when the 3 iron is flying like it is. 3 iron off some of the longer tees may be a stroke saver on some holes. Hit a great, straight 3 iron off a baby tee on 17. Compare that with the 4 iron off grass on 12, and maybe the long irons would be better suited to teeing up a bit. Last disappointment of the day was the putter. There were a few putts with good weight, but poor read and a few on the back nine that rode the rim of the hole at a good speed. Not to make excuses, but think the holes haven't been cut and seated well. Will work at golf plan now to dial in the putting. Keep the turn at the top smooth, and let the club do the work. Found a few shots a bit "leggy", watch that lower body.Aug 6, 2014 Details -

Driver still going straight if I don't try to kill it. Must work on my confidence in the club. 3 and 4 iron favourite clubs of the day. Rescue club hit well at range, but atrocious on the course. Put it back in bag several times after practice swings. When I stuck with them in the round they flew left way off line. (Toe shot?).
Posted big scores on 5 and 14. 5 due to rescue dropping me in deep sand which took 2 hits to get out.
Beautiful 4 iron into 14 overran the green a bit into sand at the back. Pin was far right on the narrow part of the green sloping toward deep bunker. The bump and run 8i trickled off the green into the pit. Skulked the 60 trying to get out which flew way over the green into a bush behind. Played a safe bump and run way right of the pin to the wide part if the green.
Putter pretty hot today. Holed a couple long ones, and got a good feel of the speed. Stick with split grip.Jul 31, 2014 Details
