When I was a newbie, this constant clash of information gave me massive anxiety. I kept buying new products, hoping for a miracle, but my retention remained a total rollercoaster.
It wasn't until I sat down, blocked out the noise, and actually studied the chemistry of my products that everything clicked. Today, we are going to debunk the biggest myths surrounding professional adhesives and look at how to get consistent, bulletproof results every single time.
Myth 1: "The Strongest Glue Has the Longest Retention"
This is probably the biggest trap for beginner and intermediate artists. You see a bottle advertised as "Maximum Hold: 8 Weeks!" and you think, “Perfect, that’s exactly what I need.”
But here is the catch: those "ultra-strong" glues are almost always formulated with a incredibly fast drying speed (usually 0.5 to 1 second) and a very high concentration of Cyanoacrylate. While they can hold for 8 weeks in a laboratory setting, they will only do so in your studio if your hands can keep up with them.
If your physical placement takes 1.5 seconds, but your glue cures in 0.8 seconds, you are making a weak attachment. The lash will look fine when the client leaves, but it will slide right off during their morning shower. A "slower" 2-second glue that allows you to wrap the base perfectly around the natural lash will always outlast a fast glue that dries too early.
Myth 2: "Clients Must Wait 48 Hours Before Getting Lashes Wet"

The Secret Weapon: Perfect Isolation Mechanics
You can buy the most expensive, scientifically advanced adhesive in the world, but it won't save you if your isolation mechanics are sloppy.
When an extension is applied, the adhesive needs a completely smooth, clean surface to wrap around. If the natural lash has leftover sebum (skin oil), makeup residue, or if it is sitting at a weird angle because your isolation tweezers slipped, the chemical bond will fail.
