Getting the right orthotic support can be an important part of maintaining comfort, balance, and mobility for people living with disability. NDIS orthotics may include customised foot or ankle orthoses designed to support movement and daily activities. The NDIS describes orthotics as specialised supports that may be funded when they are directly related to a participant’s disability and help with everyday activities. The process usually begins with a professional assessment of the feet, ankles, lower limbs, walking pattern, and individual mobility needs. A qualified practitioner can determine whether an orthotic device is appropriate and what type of support may be required. Depending on the individual situation, orthotics can be designed to improve stability, redistribute pressure, support foot positioning, and assist with comfortable movement.

For people looking for NDIS Orthotics Adelaide, the next step is to discuss their needs with a qualified podiatrist or other appropriately trained professional. The assessment, prescription, fitting, and follow-up process should be based on the participant’s individual requirements and NDIS goals. Regular reviews can also help ensure that the orthotic continues to fit correctly and remains suitable as needs change.

If you are an NDIS participant experiencing mobility difficulties, foot discomfort, or problems with walking, professional orthotic assessment may help identify suitable support options. Speak with a qualified Adelaide podiatrist to discuss your individual needs and whether orthotics may be appropriate for you.
