Carstairs Golf Club Hole by Hole

Hole 1: Par 4, 414 yards

A great opening par 4 to test your nerves, there is out of bounds on the left and a bunker and trees on the right that can swallow up any misguided shots. Avoid the bunker on the left by the green and going long if you want to make a par.

Hole 2: Par 3, 174 yards

The most daunting tee shot of our par 3′s. With out of bounds and a bunker on the left hand side and a pond to the right, the best course of action is to take plenty of club, take a deep breath and aim to the right side of the green.

Hole 3: Par 5, 538 yards

The most testing par 5 on the course. Out of bounds lines the left hand side and water lines the right off the tee. Avoid the hazard on the left hand side by the green and a par or a birdie is achievable.

Hole 4: Par 4, 384 yards

A straight forward par 4, a tee shot placed just to the left of the fairway bunker is the ideal placement that will leave you with a short iron into this elevated green.

Hole 5: Par 5, 510 yards

A straight forward par 5 that has the lowest scoring average on the course.  A good drive sets you up to go for the green in two. The only pitfall here is a bunker on the left hand side of the fairway about 40 yards from the green, either stay short  purposely, or take enough club to ensure you carry it!

Hole 6: Par 3, 154 yards

Take plenty of club on this mid length par 3. Those who come up short face a long and tricky 2 putt.

Hole 7: Par 4, 376 yards

Accuracy is key here on this short par 4. Trees and a bunker guard the left hand side and deep rough and mounds to the right. A narrow green surrounded by bunkers and water awaits, play to the center of the green on this hole.

Hole 8: Par 3, 132 yards

A real birdie opportunity rewards good placement off the tee on this short par 3. This large green is difficult to read so be careful when lining up and try to leave yourself below the hole to avoid a tricky 2 putt.

Hole 9: Par 5, 510 yards

Favor the left hand side off the tee on this par 5 to avoid the bunkers on the right and take plenty of club for your second shot as a large bunker awaits those who come up short. Hitting the green is a must as long and right is a lost ball most of the time.

Hole 10: Par 4, 406 yards

Favor the right hand side off the tee on this par 4 to avoid the trees and bunker on the left. Hitting the green is a must as this green is guarded with bunkers and long rough on both sides and going long will leave a difficult up and down.

Hole 11: Par 5, 529 yards

A long, slight dogleg right par 5. Looks can be deceiving, this hole has many features including large bunkers, water and a sloping green. Long hitters can get home in 2 but this hole is best played as a 3 shot hole. Keep it in play for a chance of a birdie.

Hole 12: Par 3, 201 yards

A long par 3 with water on the right and two bunkers guarding the green. Accuracy is key here as the green entry is narrow. Short of the green leaves a chip and a putt. Be aware of the pin placement as this green has two tiers.

Hole 13: Par 4, 428 yards

The most difficult par 4 on the course. A well placed tee shot to the left of the pond is the ideal tee shot. Watch out for the water on the right and left off the tee. One of the flattest and largest greens on the course. Par will feel like a birdie here.

Hole 14: Par 3, 143 yards

Hitting the green is key. This green has 3 large bunkers strategically placed and deep rough that will swallow up any misguided tee shots. Don’t think this hole is an easy one.

Hole 15: Par 4, 400 yards

Accuracy is key here on this medium length par 4. Trees guard the left hand side and a bunker and trees guard the right hand side of the fairway. A narrow green surrounded by a bunker on the left, choose your club carefully as you don’t want to go long on this hole. Play to the center of the green on this hole for your best chance at birdie.

Hole 16: Par 4, 340 yards

A real birdie opportunity rewards good placement off the tee. Long hitters can go for the green. This large green is difficult to read so be careful when lining up your putt.

Hole 17: Par 5, 501 yards

A medium length par 5. This hole requires precision off the tee as left is out of bounds and a large pond comes into play off the tee on the right hand side of the fairway. Long hitters can reach this hole in 2 but should be aware of the bunkers that guard the front and right side of this green. This hole is best played as a 3 shot hole for your best chance at a birdie.

Hole 18: Par 4, 370 yards

A well placed tee shot avoiding the water on the right will leave you with a mid to short iron into this green guarded by bunkers and a large pond. Club selection is key on your approach as you don’t want to be short or long, par is a great score on this finishing hole.
